The Ouroboros Cipher
A downloadable game for Windows
In the historical city of Oakmere, the renowned Vault of History museum is in turmoil when the ancient "Ouroboros Cipher" vanishes from its heavily fortified vault. The museum seeks the expertise of renowned detectives, to solve the intricate case and recover the stolen artifact. Take on the role of a detective and find the true culprit behind the theft.
When creating The Ouroboros Cipher, I wanted to create a game that looked like a comic book. The biggest inspiration for the art style was the movie Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse with the iconic half-tone shading. I have used Daniel Ilett's tutorials to try to emulate that look.
I love the old-school point-and-click adventure games, specifically their item-based puzzles, so when I was designing the different gameplay mechanics I tried to mimic the brilliant design of those games. In The Ouroboros Cipher, you will have to combine items in unusual ways to solve the case.
This is my first 3D game and my first story-driven game, so when creating it I used Chat-GPT to come up with story ideas that I pieced together with my ideas to create the final short and simple story. Since I am not that experienced 3D modeler, I used several free-to-use models, that I modified to look the way I needed.
I hope you will enjoy the game. If you have any comments or ideas for improvement, don't hesitate to write them down below. I will gladly read every feedback and take it to heart.

Woow, what a beautiful game!
I enjoyed it so much - looking around, exploring, and figuring out what items to use was great fun. I also took my time to vibe and admire the furniture and all the little details. And I completely loved the atmosphere, the music and everything. And the way the old-fashioned style merges with comic book-like shading is just gorgeous - I've never seen anything like this and it just catches the eye, it's so cool!
I highly recommend playing this game! It's so beautiful, and the role of a detective absorbs you so nicely. I love it! ♥
Thank you very much for such a nice feedback! I really appreciate it!
